The New Isle Of Mann SS Co. was formed in 1886 in Liverpool England. The company was formed to compete with existing Isle of Mann Steam Packet Co. which ferried passengers from Liverpool to the Isle of Mann. They owned one vessel only named the Lancashire Witch, built by JL Thompson of Sunderland.

The company failed to turn a profit and so the owners ceased operations after only a year. They sold the Lancashire Witch to James Huddart an Australian who sailed it back to Port Phillip Bay. Here he renamed it Coogee which became a very popular bay steamer.

This plate was obviously thrown overboard by James in about the year 1887 .
