Formed in 1947 by the merger of two old lines. These were JAVA-CHINA-JAPAN LINE and KONINKLIJKE PAKETVAART MAATSCHAPPIJ.
In 1975 Royal Interocean Lines ceased their passenger services. At about the same time they merged with the NEDERLANDS LINE and ROTTERDAM LLOYD to form N.S.U.SHEEPVAART B.V.
This line is more commonly known as NEDLOYD.
